Northeast Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition Welcomes You
We are working hard to ensure continued access to weekend meal support for our local families.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
During the COVID-19 outbreak and school closures, we are partnering with local schools and other partners to ensure our NE Tacoma families have continued access to weekend meal support.
There are two ways you can support our efforts during this time:
1. Make a financial donation to the NE Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition (donations are received through Browns Point PTA which is a 501(c)(3)). This is the quickest way for you to support our efforts. The Coalition can then use funds to purchase food supplies and other basic needs support to serve our families.
2. Ship food to the Coalition via our Amazon Wish List. Food will be shipped to a residential address so we can continue to receive donations during this time. However, please keep in mind that many of items we collect are out of stock. If you are unable to purchase food from our Amazon Wish List, consider making a financial donation.

We are so grateful for our NE Tacoma community and the many ways you support our local students and famiiles. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Stay safe & wash your hands!
A Bit of Background
Northeast Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition at a Glance
The NE Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition is a partnership with staff and PTAs from Crescent Heights Elementary, NE Tacoma Elementary, Browns Point Elementary, and Meeker Middle School, along with additional community partners that is focused on providing healthy weekend meals to students in need in our community. The idea is simple: a two-day supply of easy-to-prepare food is sent home with eligible students every Friday in their backpacks to ensure they have healthy meals throughout the weekend. Students receiving assistance from the NE Tacoma Healthy Kids Coalition are identified by the principal and counseling team at each participating school. Confidentiality is an essential value of the program. The Coalition does not keep a wait list, and has expanded to serve every student identified by school staff as needing food assistance.
How You Can Help
Donate your time
March 20, 2020. Due to school closures and to protect the health and safety of our volunteers, all volunteer opportunities are suspended at this time. Volunteers are critical to our success! Volunteers are needed to help pack weekend meals, deliver food to local schools, organize and sort food donations, and more. Check back regularly for volunteer updates or sign up to receive our newsletter to stay informed of volunteer opportunities. We are currently serving 179 students per week and pack a total of 716 bags for a four week month and 895 bags for a 5 week month. This is a huge efffort and we love our volunteers who help us meet the needs of local students.
